In this post, we list 7 places for luggage storage in NYC, including one that will pick up your luggage at your hotel and deliver it to the airport or train station. People often ask us what New York luggage storage options are there for a day. In this day in age, storing your luggage in New York certainly presents a challenge; the old anonymous storage lockers in train stations and airports are things of the past. Storage companies are safer than ever. Still, with any storage location, don’t leave any valuables in your luggage.

What if you have a day to spend sightseeing but need to store your luggage? Your options are rather limited, but there are solutions.Established in 2008, Schwartz Travel & Luggage Storage offers convenient daily storage for all types of people visiting New York City -- tourists, job-seekers, event-goers and anyone else looking for a simple way to keep personal items safe. Schwartz currently has two locations conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan near Penn Station, Grand Central Station, Times Square and other New York City landmarks.

Schwartz accept cash only, important to remember if, in your final days, you have run through most of your remaining US currency and are relying more on your credit cards.Schwartz do offer, with remarkable reluctance - they actually say that it is "not really recommended" - a pick-up service, whereby they will arrange for your luggage to be picked-up from any midtown location within an hour and then delivered back to you within an hour. This service costs a minimum of $50 and, personally, we would be reluctant to rely upon a service when the providing company itself seems so reluctant to provide it. If, however, their startling reticence is not enough to put you off, you should contact them for further details.

Schwartz Travel & Storage. They present a convenient and secure way to store luggage. They have two locations in Midtown Manhattan. Both locations are open 8 am – 11 pm. Reservations are not necessary; you will need to show your ID or passport though, when you drop luggage off. As of May 2017, prices are:

Cautionary note 4: Turn up to collect your luggage with plenty of time to spare. Most people seem to have good experiences with Schwartz Travel but we know of at least one incident when the sole employee on duty fell asleep and travellers were left waiting outside for a couple of hours. Again, this is the only incident of this kind that we are aware of but it is not the sort of nightmare you want to run up against when you are rushing to the airport. Any small business is only as reliable as the people working for it and our understanding is that, incredibly, this particular employee still works there.

Unlike other cities overseas, New York airports offer little or no luggage storage. This is for security reasons. To store luggage at Newark Airport, you must check with your airline carrier. LaGuardia Airport has no storage.

(E) CBH Luggage Storage offers secure luggage storage very close to Grand Central, Port Authority and Times Square. They are open daily between 7 am-midnight or later if special arrangements are made at an extra fee of $49. Their office space is equipped with security cameras, to make everyone feel safe and they have a lounge area where travelers can relax and watch TV before hitting the road again.

JFK Airport does offer a limited service. If you have a long layover arriving to and departing JFK airport, you can store your luggage for a small fee. As of May 2017, there are a few luggage storage facilities.

What you need is somewhere reliable to leave your stuff so that you can prance about New York with a care-free spring in your step and a Gershwin tune in your head. Print out or bookmark these suggestions so that your final day in New York will be as enjoyable as your first.Incredibly, there are very few places were you can leave your luggage in Manhattan, you will be surprised to discover that transport hubs that you might imagine would be obvious locations for storage lockers, such as Penn Station and Grand Central Station, offer no such service.

This being New York, you can haggle but, again, if you are standing there surrounded by towering stacks of luggage, they know you don't have that much choice. They do offer special "Group & Student" rates but neglect to mention what that discount might be so, again, it would be wise to negotiate such things before you turn up.
